Canadian Firearms Safety Course
 
This basic firearms safety course is available to persons of all skill levels. The course is 10 hours of instruction that includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the five most common action types of rifles and shotguns (non-restricted firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Handling and using firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of firearms owners, storage, display, and transportation laws for non-restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of a written and practical exam, students may apply for their Firearms Licence.
 
Prerequisite: Minimum 12 years of age.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course
 
Mandatory completion of the CFSC is required before students of all skill levels can attend this 6/8 hour course. The basic course includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the three most common action types of handguns (restricted firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Handling and using firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of firearms owners, storage, display, and transportation laws for restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of a written and practical exam, students may apply for their Firearms Licence.


Prerequisite:
Successful completion of the CFSC, students aged 12 - 18 may take the course for educational purposes but not able to write the exam until 18 years of age and the course would have to be completed again.

Cost:
  • $146.90 Course (Includes course, written and practical exam and HST) this course is combined with a CFSC. This course is 6 hours in length. Manual from the CFSC course covers the CRFSC content.

  • $192.10 Stand alone course (Includes course, written and practical exam and HST). This course to be taken if you completed your non-restricted course more than 30 days before taking this course. Course length is 8 hours. You will be required to attend on Saturday for 2 hours of the non-restricted course. Does not include manual. Manual's can be purchased for $21, please contact the instructor to advise you if you require a manual (The manual from the current version CFSC course also covers the CRFSC content).


Ontario Hunter Education Program
 
This course is designed to work in conjunction with the CFSC in order for hunters to obtain their Firearms Licence and Outdoors Card. The course is 10 hours of instruction that includes discussion and lectures of various topics. Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Hunting laws and regulations, hunter responsibilities, ecosystems and wildlife management, the hunter and their role in society, and identification, biology, management and hunting of big game, small game, migratory birds, hunting, and survival equipment.
 
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the CFSC (Minimum 12 years of age)
 
Cost:
  • $190.50 (Includes manual and written exam)
